Overview

Rashtriya Military School, Dehradun is one of the best military schools in Dehradun. Basically, RMS was founded in 1962 by former Defence Minister of India(Late Krishnan Menon). RMS is an all-boys residential school affiliated with the Central Board of education (CBSE), New Delhi. The school aims to facilitate education for youngsters of Defence personnel also as civilians and prepare them for entry to NDA and other reputed Defence and professional institutes.

The school functions under the Ministry of Defence and offers education to students from class VI to XII with the aim to coach and prepare the cadets for entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA).

Rashtriya Military Schools are ‘A’ Category establishment of the Army and are administrated by the Directorate General of Military Training. The Doon Sainik Schools, every year conducts an entrance exam for admission to classes VI and IX. The entrance exams of the students in Class V & Class VIII for admission into Class VI and Class IX respectively. Age Criteria:

Class VI: Only boy candidates aged between 10-12 yrs as of March 31, 2020, for admission to Rashtriya Military Schools in Class VI (born between 01 April 2008 to 31 March 2010, both days inclusive).

Class IX: Only boys candidates aged between 13-15 yrs as on 31 March 2020 for admission to Class IX (born between 01 April 2005 to 31 March 2007, both days inclusive) for the DSS academic session 2020-21.

Education:

For Class VI: No previous education qualification is mandatory in our academy.

For class IX: Candidate must be passed Class VIII from a govt/recognized school before the date of admission to Rashtriya Military School Dehradun. However, students studying in school VIII are eligible to seem within the entrance test for sophistication IX.

Military School Entrance Exam:

Class VI

The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to Class VI is going to be held in the First week of Feb/March/April/May (1st Week of 2020). The exam is OMR based in subjects of Intelligence, public knowledge , Mathematics and English of sophistication V standard.

Class IX

The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to Class IX is going to be held the First week of Feb/March/April/May (1st Week of 2020). The exam is OMR based in subjects of English, Hindi, science , Mathematics and Science of sophistication VIII standard.

Military School Results and Interview

Candidates who clear the CET and are figuring within the merit list are going to be required to seem for an Interview at respective Rashtriya Military Schools Dehradun. The final merit list is going to be prepared after the Interview. Admit Cards and results will be available on the school web portal i.e. https://doonsainikschool.com/.

Important Instructions

The parents/candidates should exercise due care while filling up the application form. If on verification or otherwise at any subsequent stage, incorrect entries or some variations are found, then the candidature is going to be susceptible to be rejected in RMS.

Verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents will be done during admission.

Candidates should also note that once a Date of Birth and Category has been claimed by them and entered in the records of the form for the purpose of admission, no change is going to be allowed subsequently on any ground whatsoever.

Campus

The school buildings are located in the adjacent hills area, the academic building on Dehradun, and the hostel and residences are located on the new campus of RMS.

The school hosts well-ventilated classrooms and well-equipped labs for science, math, and geography, besides well-equipped computer labs with facilities for online teaching. The school library houses over 1,000 books in English and Hindi and provision for individual study cabins. The school also hosts a canteen, a cafeteria, and a medical infirmary.
